Family Links (short breaks) fostering

What is Family Links?

A short breaks fostering service for children with disabilities aged 0-18, where carers provide short breaks for children with disabilities in the home of the carer.

Linking disabled children with individuals and families, providing a short break on a regular basis. The link will give:

• The child an opportunity to make new friends, experience new opportunities and have a break from their family

• The family extra time and an opportunity to recharge their batteries, whilst knowing their child is well cared for

• A fun and positive experience with a child, while offering their time and care skills

Family Links can be up to 24 hours in duration, or two nights and these can be at weekends, midweeks and school holidays. There can also be extended days during school holidays.

    Why we need you?

We need carers able to help with children living across Solihull, who need support.

Our dedicated Family Links carers offer their homes to children they are matched with. The emphasis is on the child having a fun stay and new experiences, whilst working towards agreed outcomes. While children are having fun with their carers, it also gives their parents a chance to rest, unwind and spend time with their partner and other children.

Could you be one of our next Family Links carers?
